Many will have fond memories of some great sporting matchups played here.
You may remember it as Lancaster Park or Jade Stadium before it was named AMI stadium, unfortunately this was another great location taken from us by the earthquake. Last I saw, the grass was long and the Hadlee stand had been demolished.
Before the Deans stand was built, seating was a rough affair on the old stand :). Wooden benches ensured you would need to stand and stretch often, before you became too numb!
Today a temporary stand is used in Addington, on the site of what used to be known as rugby league park.
I believe no decision has yet been made on the fate of the old stadium, however it will be great to see a truly world class sporting venue in Christchurch!
