Isn’t daylight savings great! Especially for those who work full time, the extra few hours of daylight are handy to start up the BBQ or get into the garden.
And how about gardens at this time of year! Lawns need mowing more often and weeds are taking off but at least there’s lots of flowers to take your eyes off the weeds! With all the extra heat this time of year, there’s sprinklers going everywhere.
I recently noticed that In a particular subdivison (which I won’t name) several homes had sprinklers going during the heat of the day at 2pm!! 😡 This had me thinking “What a waste! Much of that water will be lost to evaporation! Shame on these people!”.
Is it appropriate to water during the day? Is it not common knowledge to water in the early hours of the morning or at night?
The Christchurch City Council have some water saving tips on their website which even states:
Water at cooler, less windy times of the day, in the morning or evening, to minimise evaporation and water wastage
Do you think Christchurch needs a ban for water use in the garden during the day? Let us know in the comments!
